Biruni KYK Male Student Dormitory
Within the scope of the Biruni KYK Male Student Dormitory project, fire-rated laminated door systems with aluminum frames were implemented to meet the high-traffic requirements of shared living environments and the necessary fire safety criteria. To enhance the fire performance of the door systems, certified drop-down door bottom seals and certified smoke seals were installed. In addition, door closers and stainless steel door handles were applied to ensure controlled operation and long-term durability under intensive use conditions.
Furthermore, in areas critical for evacuation safety, a certified emergency exit fire door installation was completed. For the in-room wet areas, compact laminate shower cubicles and compact laminate WC doors were manufactured and installed to meet the required resistance to water and humidity.

Scope of Work
The following manufacturing and installation works were completed within the project:
- Installation of fire-rated laminated doors with aluminum frames

- Installation of a certified emergency exit fire door for evacuation safety

Applied Systems and Product Details
Fire-Rated Aluminum Frame Laminated Door Systems
In high-circulation buildings such as student dormitories, the key performance expectations from door systems include high mechanical strength, long-term stable operation, and resistance to deformation caused by intensive use. Therefore, aluminum frames were preferred in this project to increase structural rigidity, while laminated surfaces were used to enhance scratch and abrasion resistance.
This system aims to ensure:
- structural stability of the door-frame assembly,
- reduced risk of deformation under heavy open/close traffic,
- long-term performance and reliability in daily use.
Certified Drop-Down Door Bottom Seal Application
In fire-rated door systems, smoke control and sealing components are critical elements that directly influence performance. Within this project, a certified drop-down door bottom seal was installed to minimize potential smoke passage from the bottom gap and support smoke control performance in fire scenarios.
Certified Smoke Seal Application
Certified smoke seals were applied around the door perimeter to slow down smoke spread in the event of a fire and to improve smoke tightness. This detail provides a critical contribution to evacuation safety in shared living environments.
Door Closer Application
To provide controlled closing under intensive daily use and to reduce impact-related damage, door closers were installed. This supports user comfort and increases the long-term mechanical service life of the door system.
Stainless Steel Door Handle Application
In dormitory environments, door hardware is exposed to frequent contact and impact. Therefore, stainless steel door handles were used to achieve durable service life, improved resistance, and hygienic surface advantages.
Certified Emergency Exit Fire Door Application
As part of the project, a certified emergency exit fire door was manufactured and installed for use along evacuation routes. The objective of this application is to improve evacuation safety, support secure passage during fire situations, and meet relevant regulatory requirements.
Wet Area Applications (Compact Laminate)
Compact Laminate Shower Cubicle
In in-room shower areas, compact laminate shower cubicles were applied due to the required resistance to water and humidity. The material’s suitability for wet environments, ease of cleaning, and impact resistance were key selection criteria for this project.
Compact Laminate WC Door
For long-term performance in WC areas, compact laminate WC doors were applied. This approach minimizes deformation risks such as swelling/warping caused by moisture, ensuring a lower maintenance requirement over time.

- completion of finishing details in accordance with durability requirements.
Conclusion and Evaluation
Within the scope of the Biruni KYK Male Student Dormitory project, fire-rated aluminum frame laminated door systems were supported with certified fire safety components, and a certified emergency exit fire door was installed to enhance evacuation safety. For the in-room wet areas, compact laminate shower cubicles and compact laminate WC doors were successfully completed. All manufacturing and installation processes were carried out in line with the project’s targeted durability, fire safety performance, and intensive-use criteria.
